The Taraba State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Augustina Godwin has officially flagged off the Training of Trainers on the use of the Basic Education Management Information System (BEMIS) platform for the 2025 Annual School Census co-curated by the Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board TSUBEB and Taraba State Post Primary Schools Management Board.

The event, held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the NUT Multi-Purpose Hall in Jalingo, brought together education stakeholders, data officers (EMIS), and school administrators from across the state.

In her remarks, the Commissioner emphasized the importance of accurate and reliable data in planning and improving the education sector. She noted that the BEMIS platform would enhance efficiency in data collection, analysis, and management of basic education information across Taraba State.

According to her, the training is designed to equip selected participants with the technical knowledge required to effectively train others at the local government and school levels on the use of the digital platform for the Annual School Census.

She urged the participants to take the training seriously, stressing that the success of the exercise depends largely on the quality and accuracy of the data generated from schools across the state.

The Commissioner further reiterated the commitment of the Taraba State Government under His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas to strengthening the education sector through the adoption of modern technology and improved data management systems.

Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that the training would significantly improve their capacity to gather and manage education data efficiently.

The Training of Trainers which have about 84 participants drawn from the 16LGAs and state office is expected to cascade to other education officers, EMIS and school administrators across the state in the 2025 Annual School Census exercise.

The Chairperson TSUBEB, Mrs Christiana Taninga Binga gave the opening remarks lauding Kefas’s relentless efforts of revamping the education sector. She praised the workaholic Commissioner Dr Godwin for implementing the policies of His Excellency.

Goodwill messages were offered by the Permanent Member Two, TSUBEB and UBEC Taraba State Coordinator while the representative of the Permanent Secretary, Mr Benjamin Zantimaba, the secretary of the Ministry gave the closing remarks.
