EDUCATION: Dr. Augustina Hands Over Leadership of Taraba Ministry of Nursery and Primary Education

The Commissioner, Taraba State Ministry of Secondary, Vocational and Technical Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin has officially handed over the affairs of the Ministry of Nursery and Primary Education to the newly appointed Honourable Commissioner, Hajiya Fatima Tenny Habib.

The brief but significant ceremony took place at the NUT Secretariat along Donga Road in Jalingo, drawing key stakeholders from across the education sector.

In her remarks, Dr. Augustina expressed gratitude to the government and staff of the ministry for the support she has been receiving from the defunct Ministry of Education, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and now Ministry of Secondary, Vocational and Technical Education and Ministry of Nursery and Primary Education. She highlighted some of the milestones achieved and urged the staff to extend the same level of cooperation and dedication to the brand new commissioner for Nursery and Primary Education to ensure continuity and progress in the sector.

Taking over, Hon. Hajiya Fatima Tenny Habib assured the gathering of her commitment to improving the standard of nursery and primary education in the state. She called for unity, professionalism, and renewed dedication among staff, emphasizing the importance of laying a solid educational foundation for the younger generation.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Idris A. Goje, delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating Dr. Augustina for her service and welcoming the new Commissioner. He reaffirmed the commitment of the ministry’s workforce to support the new leadership in achieving its mandate in line with the free education policies of His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas.

The event was attended by Directors of the ministry, the Executive Secretary of Mass Education, as well as staff from the ministry, its boards, and parastatals, reflecting a strong show of solidarity within the education sector.

The handover marks a new chapter in the administration of Nursery and Primary education in Taraba State, with expectations high for sustained growth and development.
