The Taraba State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Augustina Godwin has embarked on a two-day inspection tour of ongoing model school projects and educational institutions across the Central Zone of the state, reaffirming Dr Agbu Kefas’s commitment to improving learning infrastructure and standards.
During the visit, the Commissioner inspected the construction of model schools in Bali and Gashaka LGAs and interacted with students and teachers at Government Secondary School (GSS) Bali, Government Secondary School (GSS) Mohammed Sambo, Gashaka, GDSS Gashaka and GDSS Army Barracks Serti, Gashaka. The engagements provided an opportunity for the Commissioner to assess the progress of projects and listen to the concerns and suggestions of both teachers and learners.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner commended the dedication of teachers and encouraged students to remain focused on their studies, assuring them that the state government remains committed to providing quality education and improved learning facilities across the state.
The inspection tour also included meetings with school administrators where discussions centered on improving teaching standards, maintaining discipline, and ensuring effective use of government-provided resources.
As part of the visit, the Commissioner paid a courtesy call on the Lamido of Gashaka, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Zubairu Hammangabdo M. Sambo, where she appreciated the traditional ruler for his continuous support toward educational development and community cooperation in the area.
The royal father, in his response, commended the Taraba State Government for its efforts in strengthening the education sector and assured the Commissioner of the traditional institution’s support in promoting peaceful and conducive learning environments.
The Commissioner was accompanied on the tour by the Zonal Directors of Education for Bali and Gashaka, as well as members of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), who joined in assessing the progress and challenges facing schools in the zone.
The visit forms part of the Taraba State government’s ongoing efforts to monitor educational projects and ensure that the model school initiative by His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State delivers improved learning environments for students across Taraba State.
