The Global Methodist Church in Nigeria (GMCN) wishes to address its members, the Christian community, the general public and make clarification on matters arising from the press statement issued by Rev Beziel Yayuba the Conference Superintendent Southern Conference of the Global Methodist Church in Nigeria ahead of the planned 22nd February 2026 reconciliation service of the United Methodist Church in Nigeria.

Only recently, our own Rev Beziel Yayuba, the Conference Superintendent (CS) of the Southern Nigeria Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church in Nigeria addressed the press on some issues relating to the relationship between the GMCN and the UMCN with reference to the mediation efforts by the State Government to resolve the issues

The Church Council of the Global Methodist Church in Nigeria reviewed the content of the press statement against the prevailing situation and state as follows.

1. We understand that the statement was made in a moment of deep concern and emotion over unfolding developments.
2. That Rev Beziel Yayuba is also human and like some prophets of old he also buckled under the feat of anger and slipped. While acknowledging human limitations, the GMC remains a human institution striving for divine ideals.
3. The Global Methodist Church in Nigeria holds the Secretary to the State Government high esteem and hesitate to suggest that he collected money and is been influenced.
4. We unequivocally abhor violence in the resolution of disputes, which is why we continue to explore legitimate legal avenues and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
5. We believe the State Government may not yet have a complete picture of the complexities surrounding this dispute. We respectfully call on the administration to restart mediation efforts to ensure all parties receive a fair and comprehensive hearing.
6. That even as it may appear gloomy now, in the fullness of time the truth will come to the surface.
7. We once again urge our members nationwide to remain calm, prayerful, and law-abiding.
8. All parties to embrace peace and the rule of law.
9. Regarding political insinuations tied to 2027, we affirm our belief that power ultimately belongs to God, who grants leadership according to His sovereign will.

The Global Methodist Church in Nigeria remains steadfast in its mission to preach the Gospel, promote righteousness, and contribute positively to the social and moral development of Taraba State and Nigeria.
Peace is not optional for us—it is a Christian obligation.

We urge all citizens to choose dialogue over discord, law over lawlessness, and unity over division.
