Jolitytech Greets New Head of Service; Prays for a Successful Tenure

DR. HAMIDU AHMED KARA has been appointed as The new Head of The State Civil Service, Taraba State following the statutory retirement of the Former Head of Civil Service Mr. Paul Maigida Tino from the Service of Taraba State on Monday, 3rd February, 2025.
According to a circular from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the State, signed by the SGS, Chief Barr. Gebon Timothy Kataps, Dr. Kara was born on the 31st August 1968 in Gembu, Sardauna Local Government Area. He began his early education at Nurul-Ulum Primary School, Gembu from 1974 – 1980.
He attended Government Secondary School Gembu from 1980 – 1985, where he studied Arts, after which he proceeded to the College of Preliminary Studies Yola, from 1985 – 1987 and studied GCE Science.
He gained admission into University of Maiduguri and graduated in 1995 with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), and had Housemanship in University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
He was mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and posted to St. Lukes Hospital Anua, Awka-Ibom in 1996-1997.

On completion of the National Service, he practiced in Fletcher Memorial Catholic Hospital Ikot-Abasi for six (6) months and got employed in Mobil Clinic Eket in 1997.
Due to family demand, he relocated to Taraba and got employed in the State Specialist Hospital (now Federal Medical Centre Jalingo) for a period of one year and was transferred to head the Government House Clinic Jalingo, where he was appointed Physician to the Governor from 1999 – 2007, and again, Physician to the Governor 2007 – 2015. He was later transferred to Health Services Management Board as Chief Medical Officer and then to Ministry of Health as Director Hospital Services in 2016.
Progressing in his career, he was appointed as a Permanent Secretary in 2022 and assigned to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of ti State (SGS), Home Affairs and Special Services Department and was later posted to Health Services Management Board as Permanent Secretary and of recent, on the 6th December, 2024, he was also assigned to supervise the new Ministry of Tertiary Education as Supervising Permanent Secretary. The positions he held until his present appointment.
He is married with three (3) wives and nine children (9) children. His hobbies are Reading and Sports.
