FREE EDUCATION: THE PERMANENT SECRETARY MINISTRY OF BASIC AND SECONDARY EDUCATION RECEIVES IN AUDIENCE THE COORDINATOR WOVAIDE, A WOMEN LED ORGANIZATION

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Taraba state, Alh Idris A. Goje on behalf of the Honorable Commissioner Dr Augustina Godwin received the Coordinator of the Women of Valour Initiative for Development and Empowerment, Mrs Sarah David Ibi.

The coordinator was at the ministry for courtesy call and advocacy visit on the impact policies of the NGO and possible ways of collaboration and partnership to fulfill the 2030 developmental agenda of sustainable development goals (SDG)-17.

WOVAIDE objectives is partnership to achieve the goal of education for peace and development through strengthening the means of implementation and revitalization of the global partnership for sustainable development.

According to Mrs Sarah, that they hope to have a strong partnership with the ministry particularly the permission to visit schools and conduct awareness and sensitization of the national and transnational crimes, other right violation crimes and focus on education to change the negative narrations.

In his response, the Permanent Secretary, appreciated and applauded their commitment to service and assured them of the ministry’s support noting that education is not only about reading books but inculcation of good morals and discipline in the children.

Idris harped on the state of emergency in the education sector and the free education policy declared by His Excellency Dr Agbu Kefas. He noted the huge resources committed by the state government in paying NABTEB, WAEC, NECO, BECE and MOCK exams, monthly Running Costs and provision of instructional materials.

He stressed that all hands must be on deck to ensure the success and sustainability of the free education system while demonstrating our unalloyed support to the government of Dr Agbu Kefas.

In the meeting were the Secretary of the ministry, Mr Abel Bako Joachim and some Directors of the ministry.
