DR AUGUSTINA COMMENCES VISITS TO TARABA’s PRIVATE SCHOOLS, PLEDGES STRONGER PARTNERSHIP WITH STAKEHOLDERS

The Taraba State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Augustina Godwin, embarked on an official visit to several private schools within Jalingo, the state capital, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between the government and private education providers in the state.

During the visit, the Commissioner inspected facilities, interacted with school administrators, teachers, and students, and assessed the level of compliance with the state’s educational standards and curriculum guidelines.

In the schools visited, the Commissioner commended the management of private schools in Jalingo for their contribution to educational development and their commitment to maintaining quality learning environments.

She added that Private schools are vital partners in the collective mission to provide quality education for every child in Taraba State noting that what she has seen today is impressive, and that the ministry will continue to work closely with school owners to improve standards, promote teacher training, and ensure that no child is left behind in line with the education policy of His Excellency Dr Agbu Kefas.

The visit covered notable institutions including Good Shepherd International Schools Magami, Destiny Success Academy ATC, Pacesetters Academy Jalingo, Winners Comprehensive High School and Aljadeed Academy Jalingo, where the Commissioner lauded innovations in teaching methods and student performance while calling on improvement of facilities in some of the schools.

While acknowledging the challenges facing the education sector, the Commissioner assured stakeholders that the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education is implementing new policies to support private schools, enhance regulatory oversight, and foster a more conducive environment for learning.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Association of Private Schools Owners APSON, Taraba State Chapter, Comrade Sylvanus and his team, appreciated the Commissioner for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of government’s renewed commitment to inclusive educational development.

He appealed for continuous engagement between the ministry and private school operators to address issues such as teacher certification, school registration, and infrastructural support.

The Commissioner was accompanied by Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Benjamin Zantimaba.

The visit marks the beginning of a series of monitoring and engagement activities aimed at improving the quality of education across both public and private institutions in the state.
