THE PERMANENT SECRETARY MINISTRY OF BASIC AND SECONDARY EDUCATION LEADS DISTRIBUTION OF EXERCISE BOOKS AND MONITORING OF SOME SELECTED SCHOOLS IN JALINGO

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Taraba State, Alh. Idris A. Goje led a team in the distribution of children school materials with monitoring of some selected schools in Jalingo.

The exercise which started on the 27th of January 2025 had the heavy presence of the permanent Secretary and his team to distribute branded exercise books and biros donated by Mr. Mohammed Umar Maltumbi the President of Million Children Growth and Empowerment Initiatives a Nongovernmental Organization from the United States of America.

Maltumbi a taraban residing in the US registered his unwavering support for the free education policy declared by His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary expressed delight adding that the children school materials are very important to our students and will go long way to enhance the performance of our pupils and students and also encourage our teachers and relief our parents the burden of buying such materials to their wards, most especially at this critical situation of economic hardship.

According to the Permanent Secretary, Maltumbi is not only committed to distributing exercise books and biros but also drilling of boreholes in some selected schools to compliment the efforts of free and compulsory education by the Taraba state government.

The Permanent Secretary called on other NGOS, company’s and well to do individuals to emulate the good initiatives of our brother to also extend theirs to the development of education in Taraba State. He thanked Mr Umar Mohammed Maltumbi on behalf of the Honorable commissioner Dr Augustina Godwin and the Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Dr Agbu Kefas for this wonderful initiatives for providing support in the education sector not only in Taraba State but across the whole Country and prayed to God to continue to bless him in all sphere of life.

The total of four hundred exercise books and one hundred biros were shared to pupils of primary six in Mohammed Nya Primary School, Hassan Primary School, Salihu Dogo Primary School and Jauro Ngbadi Primary School in Jalingo.

The next tranche of distributions would continue in the other schools billed to benefit across the state. The permanent Secretary used the opportunity to interact with the pupils and Headteachers I the efforts to understand their achievements and immediate challenges for now.
