NRF: DR AUGUSTINA ATTENDS THE DISSEMINATION OF THE NRF AND MINISTER’S MEETING IN ABUJA

The Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Augustina Godwin, the Acting Chairman of TSUBEB, the Directors Planning, Research and Statistics of the Ministry and TSUBEB attended the Federal Ministry of Education dissemination of the National Reading Framework (NRF) in Abuja on 16th January, 2025

The NRF provides basic education Stakeholders with guidance to improve the teaching and learning in early grade reading in Nigerian schools. Leveraging Education assistance Resources in Nigeria (LEARN) to READ is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Developmental (USAID).

The project supports sustainable improvements in reading outcomes for first and second grade pupils in Nigeria.

The NRF has enormous benefits for children, government as well as Headteachers, Teachers, Parents and Communities which have critical roles to play.

The State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the TSUBEB will engage in great depth to use this opportunity to increase the positive effects of the free education policy of Dr Agbu Kefas.

Dr Godwin also attended a meeting with the Honourable Minister of State for Education Prof Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad to strengthen partnership and cultivate new ones with Stakeholders in fast tracking the implementation and attainment of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4).

SDG4 is part of a global movement that recognises the transformative power of education hence the need for collaboration between Governments, Agencies, Boards and Parastatals remain imperative in the Education sector.

In her speech, the Hon. Minister highlighted quality education as an essential pillar in the future of education.

The meeting was attended by key Staff of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Director General, National Teachers’ Institute, Executive Secretaries National Council for Colleges of Education, National Education and Research Development Council, Universal Basic Education Commission, National Information Technology Development Agency, USAID and a hosts of other Developmental Partners.
