FREE EDUCATION: MCGEI SUPPORTS THE FREE EDUCATION POLICY OF DR AGBU KEFAS
The Million Children for Growth and Empowerment Initiatives (MCGEI) recently conducted a significant event aimed at advancing education opportunities for children.
The program involved a presentation and distribution of school materials to the Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Augustina Goodwin, who was ably represented by the Permanent Secretary, Alh. Idris A. Goje.
This impactful initiative took place at the NUT Hall in Jalingo, Taraba State on January 16, 2025.
The event was graced by array of distinguished dignitaries from the ministry, board members, principals, and selected students from public primary and secondary schools in Jalingo Local Government Area.
Notable attendees included the Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the Acting Executive Secretary of TSPPSMB, and the Acting Chairman of the Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board. Directors from various educational bodies such as the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, TSPPSMB, and SUBEC were also present, emphasizing the collective commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for children.
MCGEI, a registered NGO founded in California, USA, in 2020 by Mr. Mohammed Umar Maltumbi, a native of Taraba State Karim Lamido LGA, aims to address the issue of out-of-school children in Nigeria. The NGO’s objectives include providing support to one million underprivileged children, offering vocational experiences to disadvantaged youth, particularly those affected by conflicts, insecurity, or disasters.
During the event, the Permanent Secretary Alh. Idris A. Goje expressed gratitude to His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas for the implementation of the free education policy in Taraba State.
He also commended the founder of MCGEI for his dedication in to making the program a success and extended well wishes for the initiative’s continued impact on the education sector.
