Today, 17th October 2024, The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Alhaji Idris Goje, represented the Hon Commissioner Dr Augustina Godwin at the 9th Edition of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies NILDS Quiz Competition held at NUT House, Jalingo, Taraba State.
This stage of the competition is to choose the best school to represent Taraba State at the North East Zone and ultimately represent Taraba State at the National Level.
Six schools from across the Senatorial Zones of TARABA State , two each from the Northern, Central and Southern Districts were represented.
Excel Model Secondary School Wukari, Nati Academy Takum, Government Secondary School Bali, Holy Trinity College Sabon Gida, Gassol, Best Helena Heritage School Jalingo and Helena Heritage Academy Jalingo competed at the event.
After three rounds of the competition, Helena Heritage Academy Jalingo came tops with 45 points, Best Helena Heritage School Jalingo, were the first runner up with 40 points while Government Secondary School Bali came third with 35 points.
Present at the event were the House Committee Chairman on Education, Hon Josiah Angye, Vice Chair, Hon Dr Mike Dio Jen, Member Representing
Gembu Constituency, Hon Abdulaziz, and Hon Veronica, Member Representing Bali Constituency.
The NILDS State Coordinator, Hajiya Hauwa Sadiq, represented the DG of the Institute. The Quiz Master from NILDS was Miss Christy Ezenwa while the State Representative NILDS and the quiz coordinator was Terkule Aorabee.
Hajiya Hauwa Sadiq, commended the Ministry of Education for stepping up the involvement in this years quiz competition and encouraged the State to do more. She also enjoined the members of the State House of Assembly to get more involved in mobilization of schools from their constituencies for better involvement. The House Committee Chairman on Education, Hon Josiah Angye promised that the entire House will make more effort to ensure that Taraba State participates up to the National level.
Earlier, the Delegation from Abuja, paid a courtesy call on the Hon Commissioner Dr Augustina Godwin, who was represented by the Secretary of the Ministry, Abel Bako Lau. The Delegation presented a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the DG of the Institute.
