FREE EDUCATION INITIATIVE: DR. AUGUSTINA LEADS MONITORING TEAM TO RIVERINE AREAS IN KARIM LAMIDO; COMMISSIONS NEW CLASSROOM BLOCK

The Commissioner of Education, Dr. Augustina, spearheaded a monitoring team visit to the riverine and hard-to-reach areas of Karim Lamido Local Government Area in Taraba State on Thursday, September 26, 2024. The purpose of the visit was to ensure the full implementation of free and compulsory education for all children in Taraba State, as declared by His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas.

Accompanied by Honourable Anas Shuaibu, representing Karim II constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Ag. Chairman TSUBEB Mrs. Rabi Sunday, and other board Directors, Dr. Augustina engaged with students, teachers, and communities of various schools to assess their progress and challenges firsthand.

The team visited several schools including Shommoh Nbai Primary School, Didango Primary and Secondary Schools, Didango Balasa Primary School, Didango Gaita Primary School, Shommoh Kuka Primary School, Ngorowa Primary School, Tungan Ango Primary School, Sheniel Primary School, Binnari Primary School, and GDSS Wuro Jauro.

The warm reception from the host communities highlighted their gratitude for the government’s efforts in providing free education and improving their children’s future. They commended Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas for his commitment to education and pledged their support.

The monitoring initiative, which began in Jalingo, Wukari, Takum, and now Karim Lamido LGA, aims to ensure compliance with the free and compulsory education policy while ensuring proper allocation and utilization of monthly Running Costs for Principals and Headteachers.

Dr. Augustina emphasized the government’s dedication to enhancing teachers’ welfare and remuneration to boost their performance. The commissioning of a new classroom block at GDSS Wuro Jauro, donated by Mrs. Rabi Sunday, further demonstrated the government’s commitment to improving educational facilities.

Honorable Anas Shuaibu and Mrs. Rabi Sunday commended Dr. Augustina for her dedication to public service and recognized her as a loyal supporter of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas. They urged the community to continue supporting the government in its efforts to prioritize the well-being of the people and improve education in the state.
