DR AUGUSTINA ATTENDS THE NON-FORMAL EDUCATION GRADUATION AND CERTIFICATION CEREMONY BY MASS EDUCATION BOARD

Dr Augustina the Honorable Commissioner of Education together with the Permanent Secretary, Alh. Idris A. Goje attended the graduation and certification ceremony of Non-Formal Education by Taraba State Mass Education Board.

The event which took place at the Gym Hall of Jolly Nyame’s Stadium had the esteemed presence of the Chairman House Committee on Education, Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Agye Josiah Yaro and his Vice, Hon. Dr. Mike Dio Jen and other dignitaries.

The 2024 ceremony was declared opened with a welcome address from the Acting Executive Secretary of the Board, Mal. Hamidu Usman Leme. He stressed on the importance of adults literacy which is not just about eradicating illiteracy, but a unique and powerful tool to eradicate poverty and strong means for social and economic development.

The Ag ES announced the total number of 1575 learners eligibled for the certification and used the opportunity to call on individuals, philanthropists, corporate organizations, NGOs, Faith based organizations, communities to as a matter of urgency open literacy centers in their respective areas and communities. He lauded the support of the Governor of Taraba State His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas, the Commissioner of Education, Dr Augustina Godwin and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Alh Idris A Goje and the entire management and staff of the board for the success of the program.

Responding, Dr Augustina the Honorable Commissioner, assured the board that His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas interested in the program and has promised to everything within his power to make education a priority in Taraba State.

She stressed that education has no age limit, irrespective of your status, you can study. She appreciated the Value Chain Development Program (VCDP) for their tremendous contributions in the lives of the disabled personalities.

In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Idris A Goje, while giving a vote of thanks harped on the need for effective collaboration to ensuring the success of the free education policy of His Excellency Dr Agbu Kefas adding that the ministry has an open door policy that welcomes every meaningful initiatives for the success of its operations. He congratulated the graduates and wish them well in their future endeavors.

Goodwill messages were made by the Chairman House Committee on Education, Hon Agye, Representatives of NECO, VCDP and Nigeria Correctional Service among others.

Highlights of the event were Paper presentations, Drama, Certifications and Choreographies.
